Within the online blogging and business industry, your entire brand is based online entirely so social media plays a huge part in getting your name out there and getting new eyes onto your website and all of your content in general. You would be doing yourself a disserve to only have a website but no active social media profiles because you would only be making it harder on yourself to get exposure to your brand and grow your audience in the long run.

As bloggers and online business owners, social media is our livelihood and the way that we are able to connect to our readers on a little bit of a deeper level. Our blogs can only do so much for us, being able to use social media to show the behind the scenes and day to day happenings helps to humanize your brand and helps your audience get to know the true you even better. Utilizing channels like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube allows us to make those genuine connections beyond our websites. Some people may just follow us on Instagram while others read our blogs and follow us across all of our social media channels so that’s why it is important to have a presence on social media because someone may have not found your website or blog without randomly stumbling upon one of your social media channels.

Video platforms like Instagram Stories, Snapchat, and YouTube allow us to form even deeper connections with our readers by garnering that like, know, and trust factor at a quicker rate than our blog posts are able to. Although a blog post can be effective, it is known that live video helps your audience connect to you even quicker because they can see you in real time and hear your voice which ultimately builds their trust in you much faster than reading your posts.

If bloggers and business owners didn’t take to social media and just stuck specifically to their websites then they would be leaving a lot on the table and certainly not in a good way. There is only so much that SEO can do to help get people to your website so cultivating a community on the social media channels that your ideal audience hangs out on is extremely important and necessary for bloggers and other online business owners everywhere.

  1. I never thought about a deeper connection coming from instastories because of how short or limited they are, but you made me realize that a customer or follower seeing you being a brand ambassador in real time or real life helps build a connection that may not have been made.

  2. I enjoyed your post a lot. I agree that posting on social media does allow you to make genuine online connections. It is like opening your door and letting everyone who reads your blog in and to get to know a different side to you through your social media. They see more of the things you like and maybe more of what they have in common with you.
